In addition, individual companies and interest bunches continue to lobby and function by having the authorities to defend this important pet in its natural environment. Apart from authorities interference, more research relating to global warming is essential so that the climate alteration are able to be stopped or altered. There are actually agencies that are raising money for this incredibly function. Yet another method communities are assisting the polar bear is to make use of trained bear patrol agents to keep the land bound polar bears from people as well as to make sure that the bears are actually not contending likewise strongly by having the people for the food resources on land.

Fear makes people give up their rights and common sense. Why doesn’t any one bring up the point we are coming out of a mini ice age.

It’s a good thing this scam didn’t happen during the late sixties, with all that hippy flower power and reefer induced love-in stuff going on. I remember the era well, and can only imagine how many of them would have made their way north to save the polar bears only to be eaten by them.

what are the effects of polar bear extinction? what are the short term and long term effects of polar bear extinction? how will it effect the world economically, socially, politically, and culturally? what will happen to other animals?

  5. Chris P says:

Well polar bears are really cute, the media & environmentalists just use the polar bear as an example of what can occur because of your climate change, but many different animals, plants, etc, would be affected greatly by a climate change. They just choose one specific animal, so the public can digest it easier. If the polar bears were to become extinct, whatever they are predators do would overpopulate, there would still be other kinds of bears, just not the polar bears. But climate change as a whole would completely change the world. People would have to be evacuated from places where they are unable to live because of extreme temperatures, and little island nations would be completely wiped off the map.

…This is truly a difficult question. The short term impacts and economical impacts is probably towards the Zoos. For enviromental effect it will damage the Food web in the artic very severely, depending on the importance of the species it will have a huge or small scale of impact in terms of enviroment.Socially…well the only thing I can think of is Animals Activist raging against the Government for doing nothing to save the Polar Bears.Culturally and Politically…this is unlikely to be honest….back to the food web topic. If the food web is damaged,it is likely that other animals will go extinct along with the Polar Bears and the animals Polar Bears hunt(Seals and fish) will over-populate and cause a negative impact on the enviroment.

Polar Bears in Antarctica?!?!?! Is this a good Idea? http://www.polarbearconservancy.org/Site/Programs.html The Polar Bear Conservancy’s plan is to relocate 3,000 polar bears from the Northern Arctic, where global climate change is melting native habitat, to the stable ice sheets of Antarctica. The Polar Bear Conservancy will begin relocation of the first Arctic polar bears to Antarctica on Earth Day, April 22, 2008. The relocation will be the initial step in a planned five-year program to migrate 3,000 polar bears from the Northern Arctic to the southern continent of Antarctica. Scientists say polar bears face near-certain extinction by 2020 as global climate change accelerates melting of their habitat in the Northern Arctic. Antarctica, in contrast, can be a viable home for the bears. Though experiencing melting of its own, the southernmost continent still has sufficient ice coverage to support the polar bear indefinitely in its traditional climate, and it has abundant food stocks, including penguins, seals, dolphins, and migratory Hmm… apparently this was an April Fool’s joke.

  8. blakeary says:

I don?t think so. You?re likely to interrupt the balance of nature in that area. It?s been done many times before. Even if the scientists think they have everything worked out it?s impossible to tell with nature. Next thing you?ll know is the polar bears have some type of bacteria in the hair that?s fatal to penguins. That?s only a lame example but there are so many possibilities that can?t be known ahead of time when introducing a new animal to a new environment.

Global warming, melting ice caps, poor polar bears….? Is it or is it not true that the earth was, for over at least a hundred years , much warmer than it is today? it was called the great warm (I may be wrong with the name). Anyway, that was maybe a few thousand years ago( too little time for anything complex to evolve) and today we still have polar bears. So all this talk of the polar bears going extinct is pure rubbish. If extinction was on the cards for the polar bear then how did they survive when it was even hotter? any of you who belive in the propaganda about the melting ice and the doom of the polar bear, please give me a logical explanation as to how they would have survived if it was even worse than it is today. global warming is a political scam, the earth was hotter before and everything is still here(well maybe a few things but not enough to cause any environmental issues).

  10. Hint: human beings cannot stop global warming, it’s just a campaign to get people to spend more money on ‘global friendly’ products. excuse the nonsense and lack of capitalization, the shift key on this lap top sucks. any how, in a geography book i read for my boyfriend’s college class, it stated that we’re in an interglacial period and just moving out of a sort of ice age, that’s why we’re getting naturally warmer. if you really want to do something about global warming, eat more cows. they produce a shit load of methane. finally, someone who agress with me

  11. Robert H says:

I dont think they are saying that the Polar Bears numbers are dwindling now – and yes there are plenty of polar bears. What they are saying is that Global warming is happening so fast there that once the ice melts they will drop in number very fast, and that can cause extinction.

  12. Track P says:

Why some liberals are whining that war in Iraq continues and polar bears are suffering, despite Obama? Like they believed in his pre-election rhetoric. Liberals, your Hussein Obama is only interested in power grab, to slaughter the golden goose of capitalism and divide the carcass between interest groups. My mom and I adore polar bears, but sadly they the bears head toward their extinction. The Russians poisoned the bears in Siberia by their wastes of socialist economy, and now with Obama in charge of Alaskan costs the bears have nowhere to run.

  13. delina_m says:

Well should we just be quiet now that Obama is doing it? We don’t care who is doing it if it’s wrong we are going to protest it.

  14. The bears still have Canada. Most of them live there anyhow.

  15. i hope so but i am afraid it looks bad

  16. Debu says:

At this rate the polar ice is melting , the polar bear is losing its habitat and habits. There is no way to save it from extinction right now.

  17. lacyKAY! says:

oh i hope so!!! i love polar bears!

  18. At the rate it is going now, I highly doubt it.
