Whales are one of the most popular yet gentlest creatures in the marine ecosystem. In the past, different types of whales, from killer whales, humpback whales and Minke whales, were flourishing and migrating throughout the world from the Pacific Ocean to the deep Atlantic. Nonetheless, at present, the whale varieties have actually been threatened of extinction as a outcome of illegal and inhumane tasks that is happening as we speak. Whales as well as additional animals of fish, including dolphins, have actually been considerably altered in a detrimental method due to human angling tasks that have led to the continual and gradual depletion of these attractive marine animals.
Whales are exceptionally intelligent creatures. Their tunes are a form of communication that are exceptional to each species and personal and are utilized to exchange information. Whales have many behaviors that are comparable to humans; whales raise a solitary offspring at a time, whales have courting rituals, and whales have even been observed grieving each others deaths. Dolphins and whales are closely related, and countless of the enthralling behaviors that have been observed in dolphins have additionally been located in whales. The common raised a huge outcry when tuna fishers hurt dolphin human populations. Like dolphins, whales really should not be killed for food.
Sea Shepherd is an organization that states Japan is in violation of the IWC rules on all commercial whaling. They point out that the Eastern public does not support commercial whale hunting, however all the major political parties do. Whale meat supposedly caught for “investigation reasons” ends up in the well-known Tsukiji fish market, Ocean Shepherd points out. They investigate this embezzlement of whale meat on a regular basis and try to eliminate whaling in the high oceans as it is arising.
Whales should have to live and be permitted to repopulate. The intercontinental community has recognized this, and Ocean Shepherd is fighting to uphold the will of the United Nations. If you desire to know more about the fight to save whales and how you can help, pay a visit to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for more information. Opportunities exist to turn into a company member and fight directly, donate, or offer support on-shore. Whatever you select, you will definitely be helping to protect the selection of life on Earth and to shield a noble, deserving creature.
How big of a splash does a humpback whale make when it propels itself out of water? When a humpback whale jumps up, out of water, how big is the splash? In feet? In gallons? Does anyone know? Thanks!
There is no way to measure. There are many variables that determine the water taken up when the whale jumps. It depends on the size, momentum, angle, movement in the air, ect. All I can say is that its a lot.
Until i did some research i didn’t even know humpback whales could even jump out of the water, and i still can’t imagine something of that size jumping. I am guessing they make a pretty big splash when they land, but im not sure anyone can actually measure the volume of water they ‘splash’.
Daily Food Consumption of Humpback Whales? Anyone know? I can’t find it anywhere, oddly.
If you mean what they eat it’s krill and Herring.
How many humpback whales are left? As in, how many humpbacks remain in the wild? How many per year (estimated) are killed by whalers?
Right now the population is being studied and there is no sufficient data. A note to Kirsty. Japan doesn’t determine how many they kill the international whaling commission (IWC) determines that. This is the same organization that set up the whaling ban in 1986. Japan hasn’t been hunting Humpbacks for a couple years until more information on there population is gathered. The IWC determines the hunt numbers by the population size, and how fast they reproduce and mature. That is why before the hunt stopped only 50 per year were allowed to be hunted. Don’t listen to the terrorist organization known as Sea shepherd they have never told the truth.
It is believed they number about 30,000-40,000 at present, or about 30-35% of the original population. Here’s the fake research site the Japanese set up: http://www.icrwhale.org/eng-index.htm This should specify how many they plan to kill.
why is whaling of humpback whales an issue of concern to citizen? PLEASE HELP? i cant think of how to put it into words.
There gonna be gone Megs….gahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
They are HUGE
NO left turn on red…. is a big one… and when they beach themselves make sure you call the media to get hundreds of Volunteers out there to make them go back to sea rather then die on the beach where they are trying to get… naturally if they do die they will stink bad but thats a law of biology decaying flesh stinks……………laws are only as good as everyone who abides by them… so any laws are meaningless to certain countries…. so there are none that are really much good……
It’s illegal to own one as a pet.

The NSW and Queensland coasts are also great for spotting humpbacks, and far more popular than WA. New Zealand also has sperm whale watching. Southern right whales can be seen in season in the Great Australian Bight while blue whale watching is done, in season, from Robe in South Australia. There are plenty of different companies offering whale watching trips. I suggest you spend some time with Google and compare prices, times and expectations. You might be able to fit a lot more into your trip.
Check out the East Coast. Humpbacks migrate up the coast around that time of the year. Daily sightseeing trips operate out of the Gold Coast, although a better option is Hervey Bay, a few hours north of Brisbane.
